Why do weight loss diets fail?

The key to losing weight is to reduce your appetite and start exercising on a regular basis. Unfortunately most people think that starving to death will get them the “dream-body”. By starving your body you actually slow down your metabolism and you increase the risk of doubling the fat after finishing the diet. The body’s natural defence mechanism is to store fat when it’s on a low fat diet therefore everything you eat afterwards is immediately converted into fat.

The mindful solution is to balance the hormones and brain chemistry that drive overeating and constant cravings. Reducing the calorie intake is not a long term solution. Even if you are eating 1000 calories per day and most of those calories are just empty calories (available in junk food), your body will be reluctant to losing weight. Eating right and taking supplements that will aid in your new lifestyle is the right way to “diet”. Getting rid of processed foods high in gluten, dairy and sugar is the first step to getting a healthy, slim body. Most diets do the opposite of what they are supposed to do- they increase your appetite and slow down your metabolism. Having a slow metabolism equals gaining more fat, feeling unhealthy and having low levels of energy.

Cleansing the body on a regular basis and keeping your gut free of toxins and waste is imperative to losing weight faster and better with no harmful side effects. Taking probiotics on a regular basis and staying away from antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and various gut busting drugs will improve your health and overall wellbeing. Choosing the right foods that will actually nourish your body and speed up your metabolism is a process, not an overnight magic trick. Working out on a regular basis and training your mind to actually like spending time in the gym, yoga class, pilates or any other form of exercise is also a process and requires a lot of commitment and discipline.
